Recruitment & Retention

America’s prosecutors are on the front lines of justice, serving their communities and standing up for victims. The National District Attorneys Association is committed to addressing the urgent challenges of recruitment and retention in the prosecution profession.

Through this initiative, NDAA works to help offices attract new talent while also ensuring that experienced prosecutors have the resources and support needed to build lasting careers.

As the demands on the legal field continue to grow, prosecutor offices nationwide face mounting pressures in both hiring and retention. 🌟 Resource Spotlight: Fairbanks, AK Junior DA Program

Recruitment and community engagement are at the heart of a strong prosecutor’s office. The Fairbanks, AK Junior DA Program demonstrates how prosecutors can connect with the next generation while building trust in the justice system. Designed for high school students, the program provides firsthand exposure to the criminal justice process through interactive sessions with prosecutors, community leaders, and justice partners.

By inviting students behind the scenes, the Junior DA Program inspires future practitioners, fosters transparency, and helps cultivate informed advocates for justice in our communities. To support replication of this model, Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallaire and his team developed a comprehensive handbook so other offices can adapt for their own programs.
