NDAA's 2026
National Recruitment & Retention Symposium

September 10-11, 2026 | Seattle, WA

Building the Prosecutor Workforce of the Future

Workforce challenges are no longer a staffing problem.

They are an organizational sustainability problem.

Across the country, prosecutor offices are facing persistent vacancies, rising early-career attrition, increasing workload pressures, burnout, leadership succession challenges, and growing competition for legal talent.

The consequences extend far beyond hiring.

When offices struggle to attract and retain talented professionals, caseload pressures increase, institutional knowledge is lost, leadership pipelines weaken, and organizational effectiveness suffers.

Building a stronger workforce requires more than recruitment.

It requires intentional systems that support people throughout the entire employee lifecycle—from first contact through long-term leadership development.

NDAA's 2026 National Recruitment & Retention Symposium is designed to help prosecutor office leaders build those systems.

This is not simply a recruitment conference.

It is a practical, prosecutor-focused program built around how offices attract, develop, engage, and retain talented professionals in real-world prosecution environments.

What You Will Do in This Program

This program combines targeted instruction with practical application so participants can move beyond identifying workforce challenges and begin building sustainable solutions.

Throughout the program, you will:

  • Develop recruitment and employer branding strategies that help attract talented professionals to prosecution careers
  • Design onboarding, mentorship, and early-career development approaches that improve retention and reduce attrition
  • Apply workforce analytics and staffing data to support resource allocation, workload management, and organizational planning
  • Evaluate operational, cultural, and leadership practices that influence employee engagement, wellbeing, and long-term retention
  • Explore practical solutions for workplace flexibility, incentives, and professional development within prosecution environments
  • Build strategies to strengthen leadership pipelines, preserve institutional knowledge, and create sustainable workforce systems

But just as important as the content is the room.

A Room Built for Workforce Leaders

This program is designed for prosecutors, office administrators, human resources professionals, supervisors, and organizational leaders responsible for building and sustaining the prosecution workforce.

Participants learn alongside peers from across the country, examining how different offices approach similar workforce challenges—what attracts talent, what drives attrition, and what creates long-term organizational resilience.

Sessions emphasize practical application, connecting recruitment, retention, leadership development, and workplace culture to the day-to-day realities of running a prosecutor office.

You will not just hear what others are doing.

You will learn how offices are building cultures, systems, and strategies that help talented professionals choose to join, grow, and stay.
