Overview

The visibility of prosecutorial work can extend into a prosecutor’s digital life, home, and family. Public records, social media, data brokers, and professional interactions can expose personal information. Harassment, stalking, doxxing, and threats create additional decisions about what to preserve, whom to contact, and what the office needs to do.

Beyond the Courthouse gives participants practice making informed, proportionate safety decisions. Through developing prosecution scenarios, they distinguish an exposure or vulnerability from concerning behavior or a potential threat, choose reasonable interim steps, and examine how a useful report and coordinated office response can support the people affected. Participants also consider how to reduce preventable exposure without treating every uncertainty as an emergency.

What You Will Do in This Program

  • Examine physical, digital, home, and family exposure associated with prosecutorial work.
  • Distinguish vulnerabilities, concerning behavior, and potential threats.
  • Select safety priorities and revise them when new information changes the situation.
  • Develop an interim response within your role while seeking appropriate assistance.
  • Prepare a useful safety report that separates known facts from uncertainty.
  • Evaluate whether an office response identifies responsibility, provides updates, and follows through.

Potential CLE Categories

General CLE or practice risk management; cybersecurity only for qualifying digital-safety segments. Categories vary by jurisdiction. Approval and credit hours are not confirmed; these potential categories do not establish course eligibility.
