On-Demand Webinar: Modern #Ethics for #Prosecutors: Handling Cases in a Court of Law, and the Court of Public Opinion
60-minute presentation

Wendy L. Patrick is a career prosecutor, named the Public Lawyer of the Year by the California State Bar Public Law Section. She has completed over 165 trials ranging from stalking, to domestic violence, to first-degree murder.  She teaches and trains on a variety of legal topics around the world. She has also been teaching ethics, trial skills, substance abuse, competence, elimination of bias, civility, and other subjects around the country on a regular basis for over twenty years to a variety of legal and business organizations. Modern prosecutions involve making decisions that comport with the law and applicable State Bar rules. But because due to the current political climate and recent sensationalism of high profile cases related to police misconduct and other issues, today´s prosecutors live in a fishbowl—where their conduct is critiqued and criticized by the public on a regular basis, in connection with cases of every type. This out-of-the-box, interactive program will cover modern, practical, ethical dilemmas for prosecutors, all of which will be analyzed under the Rules of Professional Conduct, and relevant case law. It will discuss everything from charging decisions in a charged political climate, to relationships with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and the public, to working within a climate of public pressure—both on and offline.
