About NDAA

Founded in 1950, the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) is the oldest and largest organization representing state and local prosecutors in the United States. As a non-partisan, non-profit membership association, NDAA supports more than 6,000 members from urban and rural jurisdictions across all 50 states. Our mission is to equip and empower prosecutors to ensure justice is served and communities are kept safe.

NDAA provides nationwide training, technical assistance, and advocacy in support of the prosecution profession. From courtroom strategies to policy development, we serve as a trusted, interdisciplinary resource for prosecutors, their staff, and the broader criminal justice system. Our team of legal and subject-matter experts delivers over 40 in-person and virtual trainings annually and provides timely technical assistance on issues ranging from crash reconstruction and forensic evidence to victim advocacy and ethical prosecution.

We are governed by a national Board of Directors composed of state-appointed representatives and past and present NDAA officers. Together, our leadership provides expert testimony, data, and policy recommendations to Congress and federal agencies on pressing criminal justice issues. NDAA also files amicus curiae briefs in key Supreme Court cases to uphold the integrity of the justice system and preserve prosecutorial discretion.

As a leading national voice on the role of the prosecutor, NDAA serves not only its members but also policymakers, media, academia, and the communities our members serve. We regularly publish handbooks, guides, and resources on evolving challenges in the field, from juvenile justice and gun violence to human trafficking and capital litigation.

At the heart of NDAA’s work is a commitment to strengthening justice through education, collaboration, and accountability. We are proud to stand with prosecutors nationwide as they seek truth, pursue justice, and protect the public.

NDAA’s mission is to be the voice of America’s prosecutors and to support their efforts to protect the rights and safety of the people.
