This is an exciting time for APRI. APRI has grown to more than 60 full and part-time employees, including several new managers and senior attorneys. APRI has proposals pending that could double the size of its grant activities. APRI's research and evaluation activities are continuing to multiply, as are technical assistance requests. Likewise, APRI publications and products are increasing in number to meet increasing demands. The recently updated Prosecutors Deskbook is one example of APRI's continuing commitment to meet the information needs of local prosecutors and to assist prosecutors in helping themselves. In the pages of APRI Highlights
While APRI is extremely busy and making substantial progress in meeting critical needs, we are very cognizant of unmet and future needs facing prosecutors. Accordingly, our APRI president and staff are assessing these challenges, both internally and externally. We are working to design a strategic plan for the near future. This plan will not be prescriptive but is intended to reflect our best thinking on how APRI can better meet the research, training and technical assistance needs of prosecutors across America. In doing so, we hope to contribute further to the prosecution profession and to improve fairness and efficiency in our justice system.
This edition of APRI Highlights demonstrates that APRI's contributions to prosecutors and our justice system continue to be recognized locally and nationally. For example, APRI is assisting the national community prosecution and gun violence reduction programs and participating communities through research, training and technical assistance. Plans are being developed for APRI to measure performance and results in these and other initiatives.
As we move forward in designing an organizational strategy that will utilize APRI's competitive advantages and expanding competencies, we solicit input from local prosecutors and justice professionals. Please feel free to contact us and let us know your present and future priorities. You are our number one customer, and quality service remains job one for APRI!
