President, American Prosecutors Research Institute
|
It is with extreme pride and honor that I assume the position of president of the American Prosecutors Research Institute. Having observed the operation of APRI as a prosecutor, NDAA president and director of education, I have come to appreciate the truly significant contributions it makes to our criminal justice system. APRI provides the prosecutor with an important tool to combat crime. That tool is knowledge. Through careful research, time tested performance measures, technical assistance and state-of-the-art training, it has emerged into the one-stop resource center for America’s prosecutors.

Now, more than ever, criminal justice officials throughout the nation understand the importance of APRI.

Now, more than ever, criminal justice officials throughout the nation understand the importance of APRI. At a time when local prosecution budgets are shrinking and new challenges are being made to the sufficiency of evidence and the role of the prosecutor in the criminal justice system, the need for a coordinated organization, dedicated to professional excellence and cutting-edge practices, is just what America’s prosecutors need. All of this expertise is just a phone call away, at the fingertips of every prosecutor in America. APRI is proud to serve as the silent partner, seated at the counsel table, when the “people’s attorney” represents their community in court.
So it is with great pleasure that I humbly assume the role of president of APRI.
Realizing the great contributions this organization is making, I am also mindful of what it took to get here. Thanks to the strong, unwavering leadership of retiring President Newman Flanagan and the many district attorneys, state’s attorneys and prosecuting attorneys who have contributed their time and expertise, APRI stands as a beacon to help chart safe passage for America’s prosecutors in carrying out their most important duty“to protect the rights and safety of the people.”
