APRI builds knowledge and then disseminates the information as expeditiously as possible. Prosecutors can look to APRI newsletters for up-to-date and handy insight into current issues and innovative practices.
APRI programs currently publish six free newsletters:
To subscribe to these valuable resources, contact the APRI program and ask to be placed on its mailing list. Once on a mailing list, you can also expect to receive copies of other helpful publications, such as monographs and brochures announcing new courses. The main APRI contact number is 703-549-4253. Just ask the operator to connect you with the appropriate center or program.
You can also access past issues of the newsletters via the APRI Web site: www.ndaa-apri.org. Look for “Newsletters” in the right column and click on the specific newsletter you want to access. You will come to an index that lists that newsletter’s issues and their prime topics.
In fact, APRI uses the Web site to provide almost “real time” information in some cases. For example, the National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse posts an electronic newsletter, Update Express, to supplement its monthly Update publication. Update Express provides succinct coverage of breaking news to keep child abuse professionals informed as soon as possible.
Of course, the Web site also contains much more valuable information. If you have not previously browsed the APRI Web site, I encourage you to do so soon and mark it as one of your favorites. I am confident you will find yourself accessing it on a regular basis!
