APRI Highlights - Summer 2004

APRI Offers a Juvenile Prosecution Certificate

Caren Harp, Director, National Juvenile Justice Prosecution Center

APRI offers a “Juvenile Prosecution Certificate” to any prosecutor who completes the four core juvenile prosecution training courses offered by APRI’s National Juvenile Justice Prosecution Center. Those courses include JumpStart; The Adolescent Brain; The Tough Cases (now offered in conjunction with National Conference on Juvenile Justice); and Prosecutorial Leadership with Scarce Resources: Policy Innovation, Accountability and Performance Measures for Juvenile Justice Systems. Prosecutors who have completed the four training courses this year will be listed in the fall edition of the In Re newsletter.

There is still time to take at least two of the core courses. The JumpStart course will be conducted in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 5-7, 2004, and the Prosecutorial Leadership and Policy Innovation course will be offered in Washington, D.C., on September 9-11, 2004. All four courses will be offered again in 2005. APRI will also give course credit for any of these courses that were taken before the start of the certificate program. For more information about the Juvenile Prosecution Training Certificate program, write to juvenilejustice@ndaa-apri.org.
