NJJPC Awards Five Juvenile Prosecution Certificates

In the last issue of APRI Highlights, APRI described its “Juvenile Prosecution Certificate,” awarded to prosecutors who attend all four of the core training courses offered by APRI’s National Juvenile Justice Prosecution Center (NJJPC). Those courses are JumpStart, the Adolescent Brain, Prosecutorial Leadership with Scarce Resources, and the Tough Cases, now offered in conjunction with the National Conference on Juvenile Justice. Last month at the Prosecutorial Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., APRI awarded the first five Juvenile Prosecution Certificates to the following outstanding prosecutors:

  • Lydia Dosela—Lydia is the Community Prosecution Program manager for the White Mountain Apache Prosecution Unit in Whiteriver, Arizona.

  • Peter Hochuli—Peter is a deputy county attorney and supervisor of the juvenile division of the Pima County Attorney’s Office in Tucson, Arizona.

  • Christina L. McMahan—Christina is the Juvenile Division Team leader in the Deschutes County Attorney’s Office in Bend, Oregon.

  • Nancy Prigmore—Nancy is an assistant district attorney and is responsible for juvenile prosecution in Garfield County, Oklahoma.

  • Christopher Dwayne Wilson—Chris is legal counsel for the Juvenile Officer (Missouri’s counterpart to a juvenile prosecutor) for the 13th Judicial District in Columbia, Missouri.

All of these prosecutors have demonstrated a commitment to juvenile prosecution by their dedication to their training and professional development. Each of the four core NJJPC courses will be offered again over the next year, starting with the Adolescent Brain course at the National Advocacy Center, November 1-5, 2004. Watch our Web site (www.ndaa-apri.org; click on NJJPC in the right column) [Click here to go directly top NJJPC Web site] for APRI course announcements for the other courses.
