The National College of District Attorneys is proud to announce the upcoming release of its new publication, Successful Trial Strategies: A Prosecutor’s Guide. This innovative book will be a helpful, practical resource for today’s trial prosecutor.
The authors of this publication are the most experienced in their respective fields, from prosecutors to scientific experts to law enforcement agents. The college greatly appreciates these professionals sharing their time, talent and wisdom with our readers. Their knowledge and expertise were instrumental in preparing this valuable educational tool. We are confident that every prosecutor will benefit from the contributions made by these successful practitioners.
The publication is divided into four main sections: “Case Analysis and Preparation, Including Use of Exhibits and Demonstrative Evidence”; “Successful Trial Techniques or Strategies”; “Anticipating and Overcoming Defenses”; and “Evidentiary Matters.” A checklist is provided at the end of each chapter so the prosecutor can quickly review the essential points made by the author when preparing for trial.
With over 50 chapters, this book covers a wide range of topics including: “Finding the Heart of the Matter: Crafting Trial Themes and Theories”; “Selected Voir Dire for Specific Cases”; “Cross-Examination and Impeachment”; “Manipulation of DNA Evidence”; “Pretrial Preparation in Capital Murder Cases”; and “Hearsay after Crawford.” This is just a glimpse of the exciting material available in this publication. The tips and strategies discussed will remind readers why the college has a 35-year history of excellence in training America’s prosecutors.
