Fighting the Terror WithinThe Realities of Prosecuting Domestic Terrorism
NDAA Metro Conference: May 16-18, 2004
Due to the great response from last year’s conference, we are pleased to once again offer the NDAA Metro conference in Washington, D.C. This year we have a special treat in that the conference will be held at the historic Hotel Washington, which overlooks the White Housea more fitting location is difficult to imagine. While maintaining our focus in making the local prosecutor’s voice heard on The Hill, our format has changed slightly to allow us to present a program highlighting the issues of domestic terrorism.
Although the news media and our federal counterparts continue to concentrate on international terrorism, local prosecutors know that domestic terrorism poses just as imminent a threat to our local communities. We will look at extremist groups, addressing gang terrorism, eco-terrorism, and cyber-terrorism, among other topics. We will not only get to hear from experts in the field, but we will also have a chance to learn from the experiences of our colleagues. With that in mind, we scheduled a welcoming reception on the first evening of the conference to give the participants a chance to get to know each other and exchange experiences. This reception will be held at the Hotel Washington’s famous rooftop terrace (Sky Terrace Lounge), which has a view of the White House.
In addition to the first night’s reception, we have scheduled a reception at the Capitol building on Monday night. Make your plans to come to Washington, and take the opportunity to network with your fellow prosecutors and with your Congressmen and Senators. We look forward to seeing you once again in the nation’s capital.
