The topic of NDAA's conference is "America's Prosecutors -- Doing the Right Thing." As protectors of the people, or the "People's Attorneys," prosecutors constantly strive to find the truth and pursue justice on behalf of all citizens and victims of crime. Prosecutors work to protect citizens from violent crimes and other criminal behaviors that threaten safety, financial security and quality of life in communities. Their responsibilities include protecting the innocent as well as convicting the guilty and preserving our ability to live in a free democratic society. Prosecutors serve as the nation's champions of justice.
Robert M.A. Johnson, President of NDAA stated, "the backbone of our nation's criminal justice system is that prosecutors abide by the highest possible ethics as they seek justice. Prosecutors are concerned with all aspects of making the American justice system fair as well as effective. Prosecutorial misconduct will not be tolerated, and this conference addresses some of the most crucial issues facing prosecutors and our justice system today."
He further said that "in this age of national and international criminal actions, it is critical that local prosecutors work closely with the Department of Justice and other federal agencies to ensure that America has the most effective criminal justice system in the world. NDAA is honored to have Attorney General John Ashcroft and Counsel to the President, Justice Alberto Gonzales, address this important conference."
NDAA is the nation's premier and largest organization for prosecutors, with approximately 7,000 members who represent the more than 2,700 local prosecutor offices nationwide.
