Our colleagues in Texas have recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA). The annual meeting on November 2, 1905, marked the first meeting of the association, welcoming just 30 prosecutors from around the state. One hundred years later, the meeting hosted more than 1,200 people and the organization now serves a membership of over 6,000. A lot has changed over the past 100 years, yet in many ways this meeting has come full circle. In 1905 Texas was recovering from a devastating hurricane that hit five years earlier. During this past conference, history repeated itself. Exactly 100 years later, the Texas District and County Attorneys Association held their meeting amidst recovery efforts in response to the destruction of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Clearly, issues relevant to prosecution have changed significantly over the last century, yet topics such as juvenile crime and drugs remain at the forefront of the prosecutors’ agenda. NDAA would like to congratulate TDCAA on this great milestone in the organization’s history. We look forward to the next 100 years.
