JUDGE SAMUEL ALITO ENDORSED BY THE NATIONAL DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION
ALEXANDRIA, VA November 9, 2005 The National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) has passed a resolution of endorsement and support for Judge Samuel Alito to fill the vacancy on the United States Supreme Court created by the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
NDAA’s Board of Directors voted to support Judge Alito at its Board of Directors meeting last week. NDAA is committed to maintaining a truth-based justice system that helps prosecutors serve victims of crime and their families while holding criminals accountable for their actions.
As community leaders, prosecutors are responsible for keeping those within their jurisdictions as safe from crime and fear as possible. Judge Alito, as a prosecutor, has been on the front lines of fighting crime. From the beginning of his career as an Assistant United States Attorney to his current position on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, he has demonstrated a high regard for the law. He also served with distinction in the Office of Solicitor General of the Department of Justice, arguing numerous cases before the Supreme Court.
According to Paul Logli, President of NDAA and State’s Attorney of Winnebago County, IL, “Judge Alito has a long record of reaching decisions through reasoning based on the law, not the result desired. He has demonstrated integrity and fairness throughout his career. As the voice of America’s Prosecutors, NDAA is hopeful that the United States Senate, while considering the views of many interested parties in performing its Constitutional duty to Advise and Consent concerning Presidential judicial nominations, also considers our staunch support and high regard of Judge Alito.”
NDAA represents over 30,000 of our nation’s state and local prosecutors who are responsible for trying more than 95% of all criminal cases in America. NDAA is a non-political association with a membership as diverse as America.
