Advanced PowerPoint® Training – 4 hour Add-On

Using the concepts developed and used at the NDAA Courtroom Technology course, NCDA will include four hours of advanced PowerPoint® and Litigation Visuals in Myrtle Beach, SC, April 1, 2008. Prosecutors, Investigators, IT and technical support personnel attending the training must bring their own laptops with either PowerPoint® 2003 or 2007 and must be familiar with basic to intermediate slideshow creation and use. NCDA will supply all other software to be used in the training.

Topics to be covered in the training:

  • Batch processing of crime scene and investigative images
  • Using a graphics editor to eliminate repetitive PowerPoint® steps
  • Creating multi-page images
  • Photo and image annotation; showing movement on diagrams
  • Hyperlinks and action settings for effective trial visuals
  • Editing and modifying 911 and other audio clips with audio editors
  • Inserting audio into PowerPoint®
  • Slide design and use tips and suggestions
  • Technical considerations for courtroom use

$99.00 for four hours of step-by-step tutorials. Class size will be limited.

Ethics Training – 2 hour Add-On

Do you have your Ethics hours yet? Come and get ‘em in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The National College of District Attorneys will present a two hour mini-course on Trial Ethics for Prosecutors from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the afternoon break from the Prosecuting Drug Cases course being held at the same location March 30 to April 3.

The presentation will cover topics such as

  • Evidence Presentation
  • Closing Argument
  • Use of Technology

Course Description

The job of investigating and prosecuting drug cases has been made more difficult by the increased complexity and sophistication of illegal drug operations. The Prosecuting Drug Cases course will help you, as state and local prosecutors and investigators, gain the weapons you need in the war against drugs. Join our experienced faculty in sunny Myrtle Beach and learn how to more effectively and efficiently investigate and prosecute drug cases.

Course Information

Eligibility: Prosecuting Drug Cases is open to lawyers in local, state, federal and military prosecutors’ offices, and investigators who are employed by or who work in close association with a prosecutor’s office.

Course Tuition: The course fee is $575, which includes admission and course materials. The College adheres to a policy of non-discrimination in admissions, scholarship awards and administration.

Office Discounts: The first attendee from an office pays full tuition. Each additional attendee from the same office will receive a $50 discount for this course.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 5:00 pm, ten (10) business days prior to the beginning of the course. Refunds, less $60 for administrative fees, will be made for cancellations received after this date for all courses.

Late Registration Fee: If you do not register at least 10 days prior to the start of the course, you will be charged a late registration fee of $60 in addition to regular tuition. This fee also applies to walk-in registrants.

Accommodations: The course will be held at the Myrtle Beach Resort at Grande Dunes. The group rate is $145 single/double occupancy per night. To secure this group rate, make reservations by March 7, 2008 by calling the hotel at 800-644-2881 or by calling CEM travel services at 800-247-8785; a first night’s deposit is required.
