Course Description

The Executive Program is the College’s premier course, exclusively designed for the top leadership in the prosecutor’s office. It is ideal for both the seasoned and newly elected/appointed prosecutor. This course will provide you with indispensable strategies, frameworks and skills to be a more effective leader and manager of a prosecutor’s office. It will familiarize and/or reacquaint you with the legal, ethical and practical aspects of your distinctive leadership position. You will learn through presentations by College faculty and executive discussion sessions with other prosecutors from across the country. Included in the program may be topics such as:

  • Developing Policies, Procedures and Practices
  • Communicating with the Media
  • Personnel Law and Practices
  • Avoiding Civil Liability
  • Mastering Supervisory Skills
  • Ethics and Professionalism in a Leadership Role
  • Training for Effective Prosecution
  • Working Well with Law Enforcement
  • Instituting Effective Prosecution Programs

Eligibility: The Executive Program is open to elected or appointed prosecuting attorneys and first assistants who have policy-making authority.

Course Tuition: The course fee is $665, which includes admission and course materials. The College adheres to a policy of non-discrimination in admissions, scholarship awards and administration. The first attendee from an office pays full tuition. Each additional attendee from the same office will receive a $50 discount for this course.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 5:00 pm, ten (10) business days prior to the beginning of the course. Refunds, less $60 for administrative fees, will be made for cancellations received after this date for all courses.

Late Registration Fee: If you do not register at least 10 days prior to the start of the course, you will be charged a late registration fee of $60 in addition to regular tuition. This fee also applies to walk-in registrants.

Accommodations: The course will be held at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes. The group rate is $130 single/double occupancy per night. To secure this group rate, make reservations by September 30, 2009 by calling the hotel at 800-644-2881 or by calling CEM travel services at 800-247-8785; a first night’s deposit is required.
