Course Description

We are pleased to present our 19th Annual National Multi-Disciplinary Conference on Domestic Violence.



We are coming together to recognize and celebrate all individuals who have been working tirelessly to assist in healing our citizens, families, institutions and communities from the invidious scars left by domestic violence. We will honor not only the miraculous journey of some survivors but also applaud each of you whose never failing hope fuels your passion and sheer determination to eradicate domestic violence and heal generations of suffering… one Survivor at a time!

Come join us Halloween week for substantive sessions, dynamic brainstorming opportunities, informative panel discussions, and creative demonstrations; all designed to address cutting edge issues in the investigation, prosecution, responsible research, provision of services, development of informed sentencing options and competent post sentencing measures in domestic violence cases.

Course Information

Eligibility: This multi-disciplinary conference welcomes prosecutors (federal. State, local, and tribal), law enforcement agencies (federal, state, local, and tribal), victim advocates (system based and community based), mayors, city council members, legislators, men involved in the movement, responsible fatherhood groups, youth groups, attendees from rural communities and underserved communities, judges, therapists and other mental health care professionals, crisis advocates, health care professionals, parole and probation officers, physicians, shelter workers, social workers, members of organized religion and the faith community, researchers, court administrators, paralegals, attorneys in private practice, dispatch operators, school administrators, educators, survivors, military, STOP sub grantees, representatives of the executive branch of government, children and adult protective services personnel, domestic violence trainers and consultants, grant administrators, domestic violence registry administrators, and any other professionals who work on behalf of survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Course Tuition: The course fee is $595, which includes admission and course materials. The College adheres to a policy of non-discrimination in admissions, scholarship awards and administration. The first attendee from the office pays full tuition. Each additional attendee from the same office will receive a $50 discount for this course.

Accommodations: There will be two (2) host hotels for this conference: The San Antonio Marriott® Rivercenter Hotel (located at 101 Bowie Street San Antonio, Texas 78205 USA, Toll-free: 1-800-648-4462), and The Marriott Riverwalk Hotel (located at 889 East Market Street, San Antonio, TX 78205 USA, Toll Free 1-800-648-4462). The group rate is $149 single/$169 double occupancy. To secure this group rate, you must make reservations by October 8, 2009 by calling the hotel directly or CEM Travel Services at 800-247-8785; a first night’s deposit is required. All conference activities will be held in the Rivercenter Hotel.

Course Schedule: Opening sessions for this Conference is Saturday, October 31. Classes continue that day and the conference ends on Wednesday, November 4, around noon.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 5:00 pm, ten (10) business days prior to the beginning of the course. Refunds, less $60 for administrative fees, will be made for cancellations received after this date for all courses.

Late Registration Fee: If you do not register at least 10 days prior to the start of the course, you will be charged a late registration fee of $60 in addition to regular tuition. This fee also applies to walk-in registrants.
